Cream Cheese Filling
- 130g dairy-free cream cheese

- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Trays: Preheat the oven to 180°C fan (350°F) and line two large baking trays with greaseproof paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
- Prepare Puff Pastry: Unroll the vegan puff pastry sheet(s) on top of the baking paper to avoid sticking. Use a rolling pin to gently smooth out any wrinkles and lightly dust with plain flour if the pastry feels sticky to handle.
- Cut Pastry Shapes: Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out large hearts from the pastry and place them on the prepared trays. Press a smaller heart-shaped cutter gently into the center of each large heart to create an indentation without cutting through the pastry. This will hold the filling.
- Make Cream Cheese Filling: In a bowl, combine the dairy-free cream cheese, flour, and caster sugar. Mix thoroughly until the filling is thick and creamy. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag or use a spoon for filling.
- Fill Pastries and Add Toppings: Pipe or spoon the cream cheese filling into the indentations on each pastry heart. Arrange a few slices of fresh strawberries on top of the filling for a fresh, fruity layer.
- Apply Milk and Sugar: Brush the edges of each pastry heart with dairy-free milk to help them brown evenly. Sprinkle some caster sugar over the edges for extra color and a slight crunch during baking.
