Ingredients

Scale

Ham and Marinade

  • 1 boneless ham, approximately 4-5 pounds
  • 1 cup apple juice or cider
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup whole grain mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Creamy Mustard Sauce

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ham: Place the boneless ham in the bottom of your slow cooker, making sure it fits comfortably and evenly.
  2. Mix the Mustard Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the apple juice, Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, honey, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until well combined to create a flavorful glaze.
  3. Coat the Ham: Pour the mustard mixture over the ham, ensuring the meat is thoroughly coated with the marinade for maximum flavor infusion.
  4. Slow Cook the Ham: Cover the slow cooker and cook the ham on low heat for 6 to 7 hours, or until the meat is tender enough to be easily pulled apart with a fork.
  5. Shred the Ham: Once cooked, remove the ham from the slow cooker and transfer it to a large cutting board. Use two forks to shred the ham into bite-sized pieces, breaking apart any larger chunks.
  6. Prepare the Creamy Mustard Sauce: Pour the cooking liquid from the slow cooker into a saucepan and bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in the heavy cream and continue to simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Combine Pulled Ham and Sauce: Return the shredded ham to the slow cooker and pour the creamy mustard sauce over it. Stir well to evenly coat the ham in the rich sauce.
  8. Serve: Serve the creamy mustard pulled ham warm, garnished with fresh parsley if desired, perfect for sandwiches or as a main dish.

Notes

  • Use a boneless ham around 4-5 pounds for best results and optimal slow cooking time.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of honey or brown sugar according to your taste preference.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, simmer the creamy mustard sauce a bit longer until desired consistency is reached.
  • Fresh parsley garnish adds a pop of color and fresh flavor but is optional.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
