This Oreo Dump Cake recipe is a simple, no-fuss dessert combining layers of Oreo cookies, sweetened condensed milk, Cool Whip, chocolate cake mix, and butter baked to a gooey, rich treat that’s perfect for family gatherings or anytime cravings.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookies

  • 20 Oreo cookies

Dairy & Refrigerated

  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk (1 14-ounce can)
  • 1 8-ounce container Cool Whip, thawed for about 15 minutes
  • ¾ cup butter (1 ½ sticks or 12 tablespoons), cut into pats

Baking Mix

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer Oreos: Arrange two layers of 10 Oreo cookies each evenly across the bottom of the baking dish, forming a solid cookie base.
  3. Pour Condensed Milk: Evenly pour the entire 14 ounces of sweetened condensed milk over the Oreo layers, ensuring it covers all cookies to soak and add sweetness.
  4. Spread Cool Whip: Use a spatula to gently spread the thawed 8 ounces of Cool Whip evenly over the condensed milk layer, creating a creamy middle layer.
  5. Add Cake Mix: Sprinkle the entire box of chocolate cake mix evenly over the Cool Whip. Use a fork to break up any lumps in the mix, making sure it’s spread uniformly.
  6. Top with Butter: Cut the ¾ cup butter into tablespoon-sized pats or smaller pieces and distribute them evenly on top of the cake mix to help create a moist, golden crust upon baking. Do not mix.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is bubbly and golden brown around the edges.
  8. Cool & Serve: Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Do not mix the layers after adding the cake mix and butter; the cake is meant to be a layered dump cake.
  • Allow the Cool Whip to thaw properly for easy spreading without breaking the layer.
  • Use a fork to break up the cake mix lumps for even baking and texture.
  • Let the cake cool slightly after baking to firm up and improve serving consistency.
  • For added flavor, you can use double stuffed Oreos for extra creaminess.
