Maple Glazed Carrots with Thyme is a delightful side dish that combines the natural sweetness of maple syrup with the earthy flavors of fresh thyme, creating a perfect balance of taste and aroma.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • Carrots – 1 1/2 lbs (peeled and sliced into sticks or left whole if small)
  • Butter – 2 tablespoons (for richness)
  • Maple Syrup – 3 tablespoons (for natural sweetness)
  • Fresh Thyme Leaves – 1 teaspoon (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
  • Salt and Pepper – to taste

Optional Add-Ins:

  • Garlic – 1 clove, minced (for a savory kick)
  • Lemon Juice – 1 teaspoon (for brightness)
  • Pecans – 1/4 cup, chopped (for crunch)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Carrots – If using large carrots, peel and slice them into even sticks or rounds for uniform cooking. For baby carrots, leave them whole. Rinse the carrots thoroughly and pat them dry.
  2. Sauté the Carrots – In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the carrots and sauté for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften and develop a slight golden color.
  3. Add Maple Syrup and Thyme – Reduce the heat to medium-low and drizzle the maple syrup over the carrots. Sprinkle with fresh thyme, salt, and pepper, and stir to coat the carrots evenly.
  4. Cook Until Glazed – Continue cooking for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are tender and the maple syrup has thickened into a glossy glaze. If desired, stir in the garlic during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.
  5. Garnish and Serve – Remove the carrots from the heat and sprinkle with lemon juice for brightness, if desired. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with additional thyme leaves or chopped pecans for extra texture.
