  • 1 large Vidalia onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 oz onion soup mix (1 pouch)
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1¼ cups white long grain rice
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (your favorite type)

Seasonings and Liquids:

  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup dry sherry wine
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1¼ cups sour cream
  • 1 tbsp balsamic red wine vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté Onions: In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced Vidalia onion and garlic, sauté until softened (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Cook Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet, cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Season and Simmer: Stir in seasonings, mushrooms, broth, and sherry. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Add Rice: Stir in rice, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Prepare Cream Mixture: Whisk together milk, sour cream, vinegar, and 1 cup of cheese.
