4.9 from 59 reviews

A creamy and flavorful spinach dip made with thawed spinach, sour cream or Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, and seasonings. Perfect as a cold or warm appetizer served with bread or crackers.

Ingredients

Scale

Spinach

  • 10 oz frozen spinach, thawed

Dip Base

  • 1 cup (246g) sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup (56g) mayonnaise
  • ⅓ cup (33g) grated Parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Drain Spinach: Place thawed spinach into a strong kitchen towel and wring out all the moisture to ensure the dip isn’t watery. Transfer the well-drained spinach into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Combine Ingredients: Add sour cream or Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to the drained spinach. Stir everything together thoroughly until well combined into a smooth and creamy consistency.
  3. Chill: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld together and the dip to firm up slightly for better texture.
  4. Serve: Serve the spinach dip cold or optionally warm it gently if preferred. It can be presented in a bread bowl or alongside crackers and veggies. Store any leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
  • Make sure to thoroughly squeeze out the spinach moisture to avoid a watery dip.
  • Try adding chopped water chestnuts or diced onions for extra crunch.
  • Serve with pita chips, bread slices, or fresh vegetables.
  • Can be warmed gently in a microwave for a warm dip variation.
