A classic Club Sandwich featuring layers of toasted bread, mayonnaise, fresh lettuce and tomato, sliced deli ham and turkey, crispy bacon, and melted Colby jack cheese. This easy-to-make sandwich is perfect for a hearty lunch or casual dinner, combining fresh vegetables with savory meats and cheese.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich

  • 3 slices wheat bread (or bread of choice)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (Duke’s, Hellmann’s, or Trader Joe’s recommended)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Salt and pepper to taste (for the tomatoes)
  • 2 ounces sliced deli ham
  • 2 ounces sliced turkey
  • 2 slices bacon, cooked
  • 1 slice Colby jack cheese (or cheese of choice, such as cheddar or Swiss)

Instructions

  1. Toast the Bread: Toast your bread slices to your desired level of crispiness and allow them to cool for a few minutes. Cooling helps prevent the lettuce from wilting when assembled.
  2. Spread Mayonnaise: Evenly spread mayonnaise on all three pieces of cooled toast to add moisture and flavor.
  3. Add Lettuce and Tomato: On one mayo-coated slice, layer fresh lettuce leaves and tomato slices. Season the tomatoes with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance their flavor.
  4. Layer Second Bread Slice: Place the second piece of bread on top of the lettuce and tomato, mayo side down. Then spread a little more mayonnaise on the top side of this slice to help the next layer stick.
  5. Place Meat and Cheese: Add the sliced deli ham, turkey, cooked bacon, and the slice of Colby jack cheese on top of the second bread slice.
  6. Top with Final Bread Slice: Complete the sandwich by placing the third slice of bread, mayo side down, on top of the meat and cheese layer.
  7. Cut and Secure: Using a well-sharpened knife, carefully cut the sandwich into triangles. Use toothpicks to hold the layers together and ensure the sandwich maintains its shape.
  8. Present and Serve: Position the sandwich quarters on their sides to display the colorful, layered cross-section. Serve immediately to enjoy the fresh textures and flavors.

Notes

  • To prevent sogginess, ensure the bread is fully cooled before assembly.
  • You can substitute Colby jack cheese with cheddar or Swiss cheese according to preference.
  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free bread.
  • Adjust the amount of mayonnaise to your taste to keep the sandwich moist but not soggy.
  • Feel free to add or substitute meats such as roast beef or chicken if desired.
