Dough
- 1 pound (454g) pre-made pizza dough
Garlic Butter
- 6 Tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
Topping
- 2 to 3 Tablespoons (30g) grated Parmesan cheese
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400ºF (204ºC). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
- Prepare Dough Ropes: Cut the pizza dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-8 inch long rope. Allow the dough ropes to rest briefly while preparing the garlic butter.
- Make Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with the minced garlic. Let it cook gently for 2-3 minutes to infuse the garlic flavor. Remove from heat and stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, and salt. Set aside.
- Form Knots: Take each dough rope and form into a knot by crossing the ends over, tucking one end under the other, and looping it through the hole so it pokes out on top. Tuck the other end under the knot or leave it out as desired. Place each formed knot on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush and Bake: Brush each knot generously with the prepared garlic butter. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until the knots turn golden brown.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the knots from the oven and immediately brush them again with the remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle each knot with grated Parmesan cheese. Serve warm with marinara dipping sauce or as a side dish.
- Storage Tips: Store leftover garlic knots covered tightly at room temperature for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave for 10-12 seconds before serving. They also freeze well for up to 2 months; thaw in the refrigerator and warm as needed.
Notes
- Dough: You can make your pizza dough from scratch if preferred for more control over texture and flavor.
- Dairy Free Option: Substitute butter with olive oil and omit Parmesan cheese or use a dairy-free cheese alternative to make these suitable for a dairy-free diet.
